That record supplies an important local workflow, but it is not a guarantee about every arrest in 2026. The individual booking and release transaction remains controlling.
Four outcomes need to stay separate. Direct release ends the city hold and returns the person to the community, subject to any court terms. Transfer to a Hinds detention center continues custody and can create a separate Hinds booking. Another jurisdictional handoff continues custody under that authority. An ICE handoff is also custody, not freedom. Ask Jackson for the disposition, time, and recipient, then follow the named system.

Confirm Jackson Police Release

The research did not verify a public street address or dedicated current phone for the temporary holding operation. Do not substitute the Hinds Sheriff's main address or Jackson Detention Center number. They belong to different agencies. Use the City of Jackson Police Department's current official records or public-information channel for the city booking transaction, and verify the live routing before sending sensitive identifiers.
The county directory identified Tyree D. Jones as Hinds County Sheriff on the July 26, 2026 research date, but his Hinds office is distinct from Jackson Police and becomes relevant only after a county handoff.

A city request should seek the existing booking or holding entry, actual release or transfer time, release manner, officer or unit processing the transaction where releasable, and receiving agency. Include the full booked name, aliases, arrest date, arresting unit, citation or case number, and approximate time. City Holding Versus County Release
Jackson Detention Center and Jackson Police Department Temporary Holding Facility are not interchangeable names. The first is a Hinds County Sheriff's detention component. The second is the city's short police booking and holding workflow described in the administrative record. Calling both “Jackson jail” can send a request to the wrong custodian and create a false no-record result.
The arresting agency is the first clue. If Jackson police booked and directly released the person, the city record may be the only custody transaction. If city records show transport to Raymond, then Hinds has the next booking and custody history. If another agency took the person, follow that recipient. Keep the city transfer time and the receiving intake time together. They document the handoff and prevent an unexplained gap from being called release.
Jackson Police Detainer Handoffs
A Mississippi Ethics Commission order documents the City of Jackson forwarding an ICE detainer and booking documents to Hinds for action. The example matters because it shows how a person can move from city holding into county handling for an outside agency. It does not prove that every detainer follows that route, that the person entered the community, or that a current Hinds ICE contract exists. No current contract or 287(g) agreement was verified.
When the Jackson booking record mentions an ICE detainer, ask whether the city sent the documents only, transferred the person to Hinds, or handed the person to another recipient. Then request the Hinds or receiving record. The two-to-five-hour description and misdemeanor release pattern come from an administrative proceeding, not a current public operating manual. Treat them as dated workflow context. They explain why a person arrested by Jackson might never enter Hinds County's current roster. They do not establish today's exact processing time, address, public counter procedure, or outcome in any individual case.
Hinds facility movement adds a separate caution after a county transfer. About 200 Raymond detainees went to Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility in 2023, and reporting in April 2026 described a new McDowell Road detention center under construction while many detainees remained housed away from the county. Jackson Police Release Evidence
A useful city release record identifies the full booked name, arresting unit, booking or holding start, actual exit time, manner of release, authority, and destination. If the person went to Hinds, add the county PIN or booking number, intake time, facility, jail-docket discharge entry, and final Hinds destination. The court case explains the legal basis but does not prove the physical transaction occurred at the same moment.
For direct release, compare the city record with the city court or other issuing court. For transfer, compare the sending record with the receiving intake. For a later Hinds release, request the Hinds docket and booking file. Public access may be subject to exemptions, court orders, or redaction. Ask for the legal basis when material is withheld and for any reasonably separable public fields.
