A person may return to the community after bond, dismissal, time served, or another valid court direction when no other hold applies. An immigration detainer can also lead to a custodial handoff. Each outcome ends the person's stay at Raymond, but only the first group clearly describes a return to the community.

Mississippi law requires the sheriff's docket to track how long a prisoner was held and how the person was released or discharged. Name Raymond Detention Center, the full booked name, aliases, date range, booking or PIN, arresting agency, and court cause number when known. That documented example does not prove a current ICE contract or a standard result in every case. No current Hinds ICE detention contract or 287(g) agreement was verified. A 2026 report described a new detention center under construction on McDowell Road while many people were still housed far from Hinds County under contract. These are dated facts, not a claim about the location of every person now.
The practical lesson is narrow. A person's disappearance from Raymond at any point during facility change may reflect a transfer rather than release. Search the old and current facility names, ask for the receiving custodian, and date every location statement. The 2023 transfer report documents why that step is essential. Raymond Custody Versus Release
Raymond holds adults in county custody, including people awaiting court action and people serving or completing county-related confinement.
