Hinds VINELink Release Coverage
Mississippi SAVIN is the statewide victim-information and notification service delivered through VINE and VINELink. Official MDOC material says participating county jails and MDOC state-offender records feed it. Hinds County has participated since December 1, 2015. The county-specific announcement ties alerts to changes in the Sheriff’s booking file.
Coverage is event-based. A Hinds booking update may support a telephone, text, or email notice when a person posts bond, transfers, escapes, or otherwise leaves the detention center. MDOC also documents transfer, release from custody, return after absconding, and escape or absconding-supervision events. A transfer is not community release. Read the named event before acting on it.

The statewide program links Hinds jail changes with state corrections events, but it remains a status and alert service rather than a long-term release-record archive.
Search Hinds VINELink Records
Start at the Mississippi state interface and search one person. Use the booked spelling. A name alone can return a person from another county or state agency, so the agency and available identity facts must match before the status has value.
- Open VINELink Mississippi and choose Find an Offender.
- Enter the full booked name or an offender or booking identifier offered by the live screen.
- Review all possible matches. Select only the result tied to the correct Hinds agency or MDOC record.
- Compare the available identity information rather than relying on a similar name or photo.
- Read the exact custody or status wording, the agency, and the update date when displayed.
- Confirm a Hinds release with Sheriff Records and the court, or with MDOC Records for state custody.

The interface controls the current labels and choices. Preserve the search time because a later booking update can change the result.

Hinds VINELink Release Fields
VINELink is dynamic, and the exact live result controls. The research verified agency, identity match, custody or status events, and registration functions. It did not justify inventing a fixed Hinds result field set or promising that every released record stays searchable. Report only fields displayed for the matched person.

A “released” or bond-related result can support that a Hinds booking changed. It should be paired with the jail-docket discharge and court disposition. No match is weaker. It may reflect spelling, an agency mismatch, a data delay, or a record no longer displayed. It is not affirmative proof that the person left custody.
Register Hinds Release Alerts
Registration starts from the correct person’s result. MDOC says anyone may register anonymously through VINELink. Use only the channels offered on the live Mississippi screen. Telephone, text, and email may be available, but the setup and confirmation differ by channel.
- Open the verified person and choose Register for Notifications.
- Select the offered channel or channels, such as telephone, text, or email.
- Enter the destination accurately and complete the on-screen verification.
- For phone notifications, create or enter the PIN requested by the VINE call workflow. Do not assume text or email uses the same PIN.
- Keep registration details private and save enough information to manage the alert.
- When a message arrives, read the event and call the listed custodian if the outcome is unclear.

Confirm Hinds VINELink Releases
Booking data can change, and MDOC warns that more than one automated notice may follow updates to a file. An alert is a signal, not a certified release record. For county custody, ask Hinds Sheriff Records for the jail-docket discharge, actual release time, release type, authority, and receiving agency. The Hinds court channel explains the order behind the event.
As of the July 26, 2026 research date, Hinds County Sheriff Tyree D. Jones led the office whose booking data supplies the county verification layer.
State custody follows a different route. The MDOC inmate search is verified as a current-inmate locator and can show a Tentative Release Date. It was not verified as a released-person archive. A parolee match can support active parole after prison release, while MDOC Records supplies actual discharge or time-computation material. Do not treat a missing current-inmate result as proof of discharge.
Federal custody is outside this service. Use the BOP Inmate Locator for a person who entered BOP custody and the federal docket for a release order. ICE uses its own exact-match locator for current detention and recent releases within its stated scope. USMS has no public nationwide release locator.
Hinds County SAVIN Link
Hinds County’s participation began on December 1, 2015. The Hinds SAVIN announcement says Sheriff booking-file changes can trigger phone, text, or email alerts for posting bond, transfer, escape, or otherwise leaving detention. That local feed makes VINE the closest public event-alert tool for a specific Hinds detainee, though it is not a public list of everyone released.
The VINE Registration Link can carry registration from county custody into the state system after a felony conviction or transfer to MDOC or another participating custodian. This is a crucial local feature. It reduces the chance that a user loses notification coverage when the person leaves Raymond or another Hinds location but remains confined elsewhere.
Follow the agency name through the change. A county-to-MDOC movement ends a Hinds facility stay without ending custody. The later MDOC record, parolee search, or discharge document supplies the next status. In all cases, preserve the event wording and date.
Hinds Registry Is Separate
The Mississippi Sex Offender Registry is a distinct post-release source for people who are legally required to register. It is not part of the general Hinds released population. Its public interface can show a current photo, identity and physical details, statutory addresses, the registrable offense, vehicle information, and noncompliant or absconder status within its legal scope.
The official Mississippi registry requires users to accept its terms before searching.
A registry result does not prove a new release event. A person may have a duty to register while in custody, after release, or after a move. Likewise, noncompliant or absconder wording has a specific registry or supervision meaning and is not proof of a new conviction.
The registry contact is 601-987-1540 and MSOR@dps.ms.gov. Use that channel only for a person within the registry’s statutory scope. Continue to use VINELink and the responsible custodian for custody events.
Note: Registry status, parole status, and a VINE custody alert answer different questions and should never be merged into one release conclusion.
Hinds Release Notification Law
Mississippi Code section 99-45-1 supplies the statutory basis for SAVIN. Covered custody events include transfer, temporary or other release, discharge, and escape. The law allows registration through web and toll-free channels and provides for telephone, letter, or email choices where applicable. The live service controls which methods are currently offered.
Public VINELink registration differs from the MDOC Division of Victim Services form. The public route may be used anonymously. The direct victim-notification form asks for a separate filing for each offender and serves a different agency process. A person using the public search should not be required to claim victim status just to create a VINE registration.
Terms also matter. A temporary release may end for a scheduled return. Discharge describes the end of the responsible agency’s status, while transfer changes the custodian. Escape and absconding-supervision events are not ordinary release. Read the event type, agency, and any follow-up change together before reaching a conclusion.
Route Hinds Release Alerts
A Hinds County jail alert should be checked against Sheriff Records at 601-974-2930 and the court case. Ask for the actual discharge time, manner, authority, and destination. A bond alert can show a booking change, yet the General Bond Order warns that other Hinds matters or outside holds can alter the physical outcome.
An MDOC alert belongs to the state corrections track. Use the active inmate search for current location and the exact Tentative Release Date field, the Parolee Search for active parole, and MDOC Records for a final discharge document. A parolee is outside prison but remains under supervision. An earned-release-supervision participant also remains under MDOC jurisdiction until sentence expiration under state law.
If the person was in BOP custody, do not substitute a VINE search. The BOP locator covers federal records from 1982 forward and can display a release date or “Not in BOP Custody” status. That result still does not rule out state, local, immigration, or supervision status. The federal docket explains the judgment and release authority.
ICE uses an exact A-number or exact name and country of birth. Its locator states a current and recent-release scope, but it excludes minors and is sensitive to exact matching. A Hinds-to-ICE transfer is a handoff, not community release. Continue with the receiving agency whenever an alert identifies movement rather than discharge.
